VERY SAD NEWS has been announced for Ex Manchester United Star as he goes off injured 20 minutes into his debut match
Raphael Varane was making his competitive debut for Como in the Coppa Italia, playing away to Sampdoria.
Varane’s night had hardly begun when he was forced to leave with an injury after only 20 minutes.
The World Cup champion was able to walk off, but he appeared to be in pain as he is taken to the sidelines by Como’s medical team.

The origin and extent of Varane’s injuries remain unknown, but this is clearly not a good start for the former Manchester United defender.

Varane’s hefty pay, along with his uncertain fitness record, contributed to Manchester United’s decision not to renew his contract.
He appeared in 22 Premier League games in 2021/22, and 24 the following season. It was another 22 last season.
However, in 2023/24, he made the fewest Premier League starts to date, with only 16, accounting for less than half of the team’s games.
Varane could have started 113 games at Manchester United across three seasons, but he missed the first in 2021/22 since he was only introduced at kickoff.
Varane made only 58 of the 113 potential Premier League starts, accounting for slightly more than half.
While his successor, Leny Yoro, has had an unpleasant start due to injury, Varane’s departure was not necessarily the incorrect goption.
His own early injury at Como reinforced the notion that United were correct to dismiss him, regardless of how minor or severe the consequence was.
