VAR cheated Manchester City!? Watch How Brentford Offside was awarded as a gaol. – truly the England Referees are against us
Neal Maupay gave Brentford the lead over Manchester City on Monday in contentious circumstances, but the goal was upheld for a straightforward reason.
Man City’s worst opponents, Brentford, scored first in their two losses to them from the previous campaign, even though they forced Mark Flekken into three excellent saves in the first fourteen minutes.
In the twenty-first minute, Flekken attempted a goal kick forward, which passed right through the City defence and was headed beyond Ederson by Maupay.
The players under Pep Guardiola claimed offside against both Maupay and Ivan Toney.

When the goal kick was awarded, Maupay was offside, and Toney moved from offside to prevent Nathan Ake from intercepting the long ball.
However, as pundit Seb Hutchinson of Sky Sports clarified, the goal was awarded, and that was the right call.
“I believe that regulation needed to be addressed to a few City players as well. It would have been offside if Toney had touched it. However, he abandoned it.”
Since players are not allowed to be offside during a goal kick, Toney’s challenge for the ball with Ake without touching it and Maupay’s run onto the ball were both allowed.
Maupay would have been called offside since the ball would not have reached him directly from a goal kick if Toney had touched the ball as it was travelling through his hands.
In the first half, City dominated possession and had 17 efforts on goal. Phil Foden finally found a way past Flekken, controlling a sloppy defensive header and slotting the ball into the bottom corner.
After scoring goals against Tottenham and Nottingham Forest recently, Maupay has now scored in three straight league games.
When the striker mimicked James Maddison’s goal celebration after opening goal against Tottenham last week, he became the centre of attention.
The 27-year-old was left embarrassed as Tottenham emerged victorious, winning 3-2.
