Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola to break long-standing transfer rule in bid to bring his former player to Man City in huge £100m deal

Pep Guardiola is going to break a long-standing trade rule to try to get his old player to join Man City in a huge deal.

Pep Guardiola might break a rule he has had for a long time if Manchester City make a big move.

City had another great season in 2023–24. Guardiola’s team successfully protected their league title and won the Premier League for a fourth year in a row.

But Guardiola knows that at the highest level of football, doing nothing is the same as going backwards.

To win a record-setting fifth straight Premier League title, City’s sports director Txiki Begiristain will need to bring in some new players this summer, which is what the Catalan coach hopes will happen.

City is interested in Joshua Kimmich, a player for Bayern Munich, but Guardiola would have to break a rule he carefully follows if they signed him.

HITC says that City wants to take advantage of the fact that Kimmich is becoming “unsettled” at Bayern after a bad season.

After Bayer Leverkusen stopped their dominance in the Bundesliga, the German giants finished the season without a title. Former City captain Vincent Kompany has since taken over as head coach from Thomas Tuchel.

Both City and Barcelona are keeping an eye on the situation because Kimmich’s deal is up next summer. Bayern could decide to sell this summer.

But if Guardiola wants Kimmich, he will have to break his rule that says players can’t come back from other teams.

He signed Kimmich to Bayern in 2015 and is a big fan of the Germany player, especially how well he understands tactics and how versatile he is.

Because Guardiola is friends with author Marti Perarnau, Guardiola gave Perarnau a lot of access to write a set of books about his work as a coach.
