Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United Is done deal
Reiterating his joy at Barcelona and referring to it as his “dream club,” Frenkie de Jong shot down rumours that he might join Manchester United.
Negotiations for De Jong broke down, forcing United to sign Casemiro in place of De Jong, despite the club’s prior interest, which was sparked by former Ajax coach Erik ten Hag, who joined the team in 2022.
De Jong, 26, underlined his happiness at Barcelona and expressed his desire to accomplish more with the team, despite the fact that continuous troubles in United’s midfield continue to link him to the team. Although a transfer to a different league would spark his career, he acknowledged that he is happy where he is right now—at Barcelona.
Barcelona has him under contract until 2026, but United is still interested—especially in light of Casemiro’s possible exit. Ten Hag’s team has benefited by the rise of 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo, but there are hints that Casemiro may leave in 2024 as a result of his lacklustre play and injury issues, which could be of interest to the Saudi Pro League. In order to prevent suffering a significant financial loss on their initial £60 million investment, United may think about selling.
