“Everyone is gone on Christmas Holiday, and that’s why I feel this is the right time to come out to the media to tell the world why Pep Guardiola keeps on benching me”- Manchester City FLOP Kelvin Phillips speaks out about why he lost his starting spot to Ake and Akanji

Kalvin Phillips has told Manchester City that he is ready to leave in January. Newcastle and Juventus are two teams that want to borrow the England player until the end of the season.

After letting Phillips play four times in the Premier League this season, all as a replacement, Pep Guardiola made it clear that Phillips is not in his plans. The 28-year-old is thought to have decided that he needs to leave City in order to make England’s Euro 2024 squad. He has not made it into the first team under Guardiola since moving from Leeds for £42 million in the summer of 2022.

Phillips’s agents are said to have talked to City about finding him a new club in the past few days. They expect the treble winners to agree to a loan, even though City would rather find a buyer if they can. It’s still unclear if any deal would include a clause that could make the deal final, but it doesn’t look like he will be able to play for Manchester City again under Guardiola.

Newcastle has been interested in Phillips for a long time and want to improve their middle after Sandro Tonali was banned for 10 months in October for breaking betting rules. Eddie Howe’s team looks like it has the best chance of winning, but it will be hard for them to make a deal that fits within their tight financial fair play budget. Several other Premier League clubs are thought to have shown interest. Juventus has been in touch with Phillips’ agents to talk about a short-term deal, but it’s not clear if he would be willing to move abroad at this point in his career.

The fact that he makes £130,000 a week could also be a problem. City is expected to demand that most, if not all, of his salary be paid for.

In November, Gareth Southgate said he was hoping Phillips could find a solution. Southgate kept Phillips in his squad even though he wasn’t getting much playing time for his club. The England manager said, “I’m sure he, Pep, and Txiki [Begiristain] will talk about the best way to move forward.” “We know how good he is because he was our player of the year a few years ago.” No one else at his level can play his role as well as he does, so we’d like him to get in a better groove.

Another English player, Reece James, is going to have surgery on a leg injury that will keep the Chelsea captain out for up to four months.

The problem has been looked at by experts on the right back, and it is thought that one reason for the delay in making a final choice on the next step was so that the Stamford Bridge club could find the best surgeon to do the surgery. James will go to Finland for the process. He left Chelsea’s loss at Everton this month on a limp.

Ousmane Demélé of Paris Saint-Germain has had surgery on his hamstring twice in Finland, which is known for having some of the best care in the world in this area.

James has hurt his hamstring seven times in the last three years, but he has dodged surgery each time. He hurt his knee in August and didn’t play again until October. He didn’t look very sharp before he was taken off against Everton.
