“Barcelona fans have been comparing me to Vinícius Jr lately. I like their opinions but they should at least let me focus and rest, I’m so young for that. They shouldn’t overhype me this much because we’re all familiar with this hype
Barcelona’s young star Lamine Yamal has suffered a setback in his recovery from an ankle injury. The 17-year-old had only recently returned to action after missing almost three weeks with an ankle problem sustained during a Champions League match against Red Star Belgrade.
However, Yamal’s comeback was short-lived, as he suffered another injury to the same ankle during Barcelona’s match against Leganes. The teenager received a strong tackle in the 16th minute and twisted his ankle, but was able to continue playing until he was eventually substituted in the 75th minute.
Barcelona has confirmed that Yamal will be out of action for at least three weeks, which means his year is effectively over. The club announced that Yamal has suffered a grade 1 injury to a ligament in his ankle, which is a separate issue from his previous injury.
Yamal’s absence will be felt by Barcelona, particularly during the busy festive period. He will miss the club’s final league match of the year against Atletico Madrid, as well as the Copa del Rey clash against UD Barbastro. Additionally, Yamal may also miss Barcelona’s Spanish Super Cup campaign in Saudi Arabia in the New Year.
Fortunately for Barcelona, they only have one more league match to play before the end of the year, which gives them a brief respite before the fixtures resume in January.
