‘Why are you leaving now, in our time of need?’: Zinchenko broke down in tears as £50m teammate set to leave Arsenal for London rivals this month – personal terms have already been agreed upon with the board

Crystal Palace is reportedly keen on securing the services of Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah in the current transfer window, according to information shared by The Athletic journalist David Ornstein. Despite facing fluctuations in his role within the Gunners’ starting lineup this season, Nketiah has showcased his prowess with six goals and four assists in 26 appearances.

It was recently disclosed that Palace’s initial inquiry for the 24-year-old was unsuccessful. Ornstein has now confirmed the club’s “firm interest” in Nketiah. While Arsenal has not expressed a willingness to part ways with the English striker this month, Palace is expected to intensify their efforts if he becomes available for transfer.

During a Q&A session with The Athletic, Ornstein suggested potential reinforcements for Palace, highlighting the possibility of acquiring a midfielder to replace Cheick Doucoure and a striker. The focus on Nketiah is acknowledged, but Ornstein emphasized that Arsenal’s stance on selling him has not been indicated. However, he anticipates Palace making a strong push if that situation changes.

Despite Arsenal’s rumored interest in securing a prominent striker, with Brentford’s Ivan Toney identified as a priority target, financial constraints may hinder a costly deal during the current transfer window. Brentford is reportedly seeking around £80 million, a figure Arsenal might find challenging to meet. Considering Financial Fair Play concerns, the club may opt for a cautious approach in terms of expenditure this month.

The dynamics could evolve in the coming weeks. Nketiah, valued at £30 million by Transfermarkt, might become a viable option for sale if Ivan Toney becomes available at a more affordable upfront transfer fee. Presently, Nketiah seems set to stay at Arsenal, as he has shared playing time with Gabriel Jesus this season, and manager Mikel Arteta continues to appreciate his qualities.
