This would be truly incredible. After being sacked by Roma, the Special One is eyeing up a return to the Old Trafford dugout. He’s made it his mission to take over from Erik ten Hag

After leaving Roma, Jose Mourinho is currently without a job. He appears keen to go back into football, with a particular focus on managing Manchester United again. The Daily Mail claims that the 61-year-old Portuguese manager is “keen” to return to leadership at Old Trafford. Given how his first stint at the club ended, a close friend of Mourinho’s told the publication that he feels like he has “unfinished business” there.
According to sources, Mourinho has set himself the objective of managing Manchester United once more, though it doesn’t seem likely that this will happen anytime soon. Fans are excited about Erik ten Hag’s chances as the manager, who is presently in the second season of a three-year deal. This is especially true now that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS firm is in charge of sporting operations.
Following Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, Mourinho became Manchester United’s third permanent manager in 2016. He was successful in luring high-profile players like Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the team during his debut season, which helped them win the Carabao Cup and Europa League. Manchester United had their best Premier League result since the Ferguson era in 2017–18, finishing in second place.
Mourinho’s term did, however, encounter internal difficulties, such as conflict arising from the inability to acquire important transfer targets and other personnel-related matters.
These difficulties were brought to light during the 2018 summer transfer window, when the team only signed Fred, Diogo Dalot, and backup custodian Lee Grant.
Mourinho’s tenure at United ended just over two months later following a 3-1 loss to Liverpool at Anfield, capping a run of one victory in six league games, including a 3-2 comeback victory against Newcastle in October 2018.
Mourinho continues to harbour personal aspirations of managing Manchester United once more as he mulls a possible return to the position. But with Erik ten Hag’s stability as manager right now and the enthusiastic support of the supporters, it appears that Mourinho’s long-desired return to Manchester United may encounter serious obstacles soon.
