Fabrizio Romano has stated that Chelsea intends to release Romelu Lukaku, Ian Maatsen, Hakim Ziyech, and Armando Broja this summer, with other departures still conceivable.
In the first two years of the Todd Boehly tenure at Stamford Bridge, there has been a significant change of players. The Blues signed 12 players to permanent contracts last summer.
This necessitated the sale of a large number of players, with 14 leaving the club permanently.
These featured huge players like Kai Havertz and Mason Mount, who both joined Premier League rivals Chelsea for relatively high prices.
With a major investment once again on the horizon, more significant exits will be required for the club to stay on the right side of Financial FairPlay standards.
Indeed, it has repeatedly been stated that some homegrown players, with Conor Gallagher being the most prominent example, must be moved so that Chelsea may profit solely from the sale.
With no contract renewal in place, the possibility of the Englishman departing in the summer remains.
However, transfer insider Romano has practically confirmed that four more guys would be leaving.

Indeed, he has confirmed that Lukaku and Maatsen, both presently on loan, will follow Ziyech and Broja in departing, with preparations already in place for the latter two to depart.
“We’re expected to see departures at Chelsea this summer, especially among the players who are presently on loan,” Romano told Caught Offside.
“As previously stated, the idea is to sell Armando Broja after he returns from his loan at Fulham, while Hakim Ziyech has already played his final game for Chelsea. “I also anticipate Romelu Lukaku and Ian Maatsen to depart Chelsea.”
Broja can apparently be acquired by Fulham, where he is now on loan, for a relatively modest sum, but this does not appear to be the case, while Galatasaray’s obligation to sign Ziyech will reportedly be activated.
It is unclear where Lukaku and Maatsen will finish up, although the former has been linked to the Saudi Pro League, while the latter wants to stay with Borussia Dortmund but has other offers.
More exits are conceivable.
The Chelsea exodus may not end there, either, as Romano has hinted that more Blues players may be on the way.
“But for the others, we’ll have to wait and see what happens,” he explained.
Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah, who have repeatedly been rumored to be moved on, may still have uncertain futures.
