Sir Jim Ratcliffe “dreams” of “giving the reins” to Zinedine Zidane – Man United News And Transfer News | The Peoples Person
Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly looking to bring in former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane as Erik ten Hag’s future at the club becomes more questionable.
On Sunday, United suffered their tenth Premier League defeat of the season, losing 2-1 to Fulham at Old Trafford.
Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi goals added to Ten Hag’s anguish and guaranteed that the pressure on the Dutchman remained high.
Aside from the outcome, Ten Hag has been critiqued for United’s style of play, or lack thereof.
The Red Devils were simply horrible against the Cottagers and were soundly trounced. Even when they win, the team’s performances aren’t compelling enough.
Gary Neville recently talked out about Ten Hag and how difficult it is for him to keep his job now that INEOS has entered the picture.
The United legend stated that Ratcliffe and Sir Dave Brailsford may have already made up their minds about Ten Hag and are simply waiting for the ideal moment to announce their choice.
Already, the 20-time English winners have been linked with Julian Nagelsmann. Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi has also been considered as a possibility for the position.
According to Foot Mercato, Ratcliffe’s ultimate goal is to sign Zidane.
“Sir Jim Ratcliffe will go to any length to reestablish Manchester United’s dominance in English and European football. To do this, INEOS’s CEO wants Zinedine Zidane to lead his team instead of Erik Ten Hag.”
“The present coach, Erik Ten Hag, is in hot water and has not had formal support from the businessman. Not good news, especially because INEOS is working behind the scenes to find a new key coach to revitalise Manchester United, which has been hunting for a second wind and an English championship triumph for 11 years.
The publication goes on to say, “According to our information, INEOS simply dreams of giving the reins of Manchester United to Zinedine Zidane.”
Santi Aouna and Sebastien Denis add that, while Zidane had previously been considered for United, the situation now is radically different.
United now boasts the influence of Jean-Claude Blanc. Blanc attempted to entice Zidane to join Paris Saint-Germain while he was there.
Blanc is thought to be a big fan of the 51-year-old coach.
Zidane was largely regarded as one of his generation’s greatest players. He led Madrid to two La Liga titles, three UEFA Champions League titles, two Supercopa de España medals, and the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
