In an age when great strikers are hard to come by, the Manchester City forward may be the only one who just scores goals.

The 23-year-old has been treated badly ever since he joined Pep Guardiola’s team in 2022. This is because he plays for the best team in the most-watched league in the world, so everyone is looking at him.

So much so that Fabio Capello thinks Jude Bellingham, not Erling Haaland, will be Kylian Mbappe’s biggest foe this generation. He doesn’t think Haaland is as good a player as Bellingham.

“Yes. Kylian Mbappe and Bellingham are the two football players I think will fight like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo did.

“They are both better at their jobs technically than [Erling] Haaland.” The Norwegian forward is amazing, like an animal. He is also very good at his job and loves getting goals. But Mbappe and Bellingham have everything: goals, skill, the ability to dribble…He told MARCA that Haaland is a local player who is best as a straight forward, as a number 9.

When it comes to scoring goals, Haaland is the player of a generation, while Bellingham is just an average athlete. Haaland, on the other hand, seems like a genetic freak because he is so strong and fast.

Similarly, the Norwegian can completely control a defence by himself thanks to these skills. For example, he did this when City beat Arsenal 4-1 last season, showing that his hold-up play and technical security can constantly be the best.

Every once in a while, Haaland is quiet, but his world-class movement and positioning let him sneak the ball past the defenders and score.

Even though Jude Bellingham is one of the best in the business, it would be unfair to dismiss Erling Haaland as Kylian Mbappe’s rival in favour of him.
