Saudi Arabia Club Al-Ittihad has pulled out from Signing Manchester City Star after the Club requested for £100 million, personal agreement reached with the player but deal has been Cancelled
What happened?
The 33-year-old playmaker is entering the final year of his contract at Etihad Stadium. With no contract agreed upon, the Belgium international has piqued the curiosity of teams in the high-spending Saudi Pro League.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Al-Ittihad, who already had Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, and Fabinho on their books, were interested in signing modern-day great De Bruyne. They had a hefty offer on the table, which the six-time Premier League winner accepted.
Did you know?
However, transfer specialist Rudy Galetti claims that Al-Ittihad is turning away since City’s financial demands have put them off. A £25 million ($32 million) bid is believed to have been rejected, with prior reports indicating that the Blues are holding out for closer to £50 million ($64 million).
WHAT IS NEXT?
Al-Ittihad think they have enough quality midfield alternatives to cope for the time being, having previously signed Houssem Aouar. De Bruyne may return on their recruiting radar in 2025 if he continues to pursue free agency.
