One Man City player did not shake Cole Palmer’s hand in tunnel before Chelsea match-Cole Palmer enjoyed another clash against former side Manchester City on Saturday but had to go without a handshake from a member of the reigning champions
Before their thrilling match against Chelsea, Cole Palmer remained unfazed despite one Manchester City player’s lack of acknowledgment in the tunnel.
On February 17th, at the Etihad Stadium, the Premier League saw an intense clash between the two teams resulting in a 1-1 draw, frustrating Pep Guardiola’s squad as they trailed league leaders Liverpool by four points with one game to go. Raheem Sterling, a former City player, broke the deadlock just before halftime, scoring his second goal against the defending champions this season.
Despite City’s efforts, they couldn’t secure a second goal against Chelsea, settling for a point. The ninety-five minutes of play were packed with excitement, but the tension brewed before kickoff in the tunnel. Ederson Moraes, the starting goalkeeper for Manchester City, didn’t shake hands with Cole Palmer, who was returning to Etihad after moving to Chelsea earlier in the season for £42 million.
Palmer received warm greetings from his former teammates, including quick cuddles with Phil Foden and Erling Haaland, but Ederson showed no such warmth. However, the lack of a handshake had a logical explanation.
Luke Littler, a 17-year-old sensation in darts, now has fans eager to support him by purchasing his playing shirt. Despite losing to Luke Humphries in the final, Littler made waves at the World Darts Championship (WDC) when he stunned Alexandra Palace at just 16 years old.
Littler, known as the “Nuke,” will be competing in a mini-tournament every Thursday in different cities until the final in May, facing off against top dart players including Humphries, Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price, Michael Smith, Nathan Aspinall, Rob Cross, and Peter Wright.
As Palmer turned to face the City players after the first one passed through the tunnel, Ederson, as the first player, missed the chance to recognize Palmer, thus failing to greet his former teammate. Palmer, in his debut season with Chelsea, has been impactful, leading the team with ten goals in the Premier League and providing six assists. He is set to feature in Chelsea’s historic EFL Cup final against Liverpool on February 25th.
