According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal is not currently pursuing Johan Bakayoko, a winger for PSV Eindhoven. Despite interest from other clubs, Arsenal remains undecided about their options. Bakayoko, a 21-year-old talent, has garnered attention due to his exceptional performance in the Dutch league and his focus on Euro 2024 with Belgium. His teammate, Romelu Lukaku, has lauded him as “incredible.”

Liverpool, under the guidance of their new manager Arne Slot, who is familiar with Bakayoko from his coaching tenure in the Netherlands, has also shown interest. Speculation suggests that Premier League clubs are eyeing Bakayoko this summer, with a potential transfer fee of £43 million. Bakayoko mentioned that former Burnley manager Vincent Kompany had discussed his vision for the team with him before Burnley’s return to the Premier League.

Bakayoko is recognized as one of Belgium’s promising young talents, alongside Jeremy Doku and Lois Openda. He debuted for PSV’s first team in 2022. However, Romano notes that it is premature to predict a transfer to Arsenal. The club is deliberating on whether another winger is necessary, considering they already have Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, and Bukayo Saka.

Romano informed GIVEMESPORT that there is no immediate deal between Arsenal and Bakayoko, stating, “I’ve seen the rumors, but I don’t have any evidence that there’s progress or a solid connection between Arsenal and Bakayoko. Many clubs have scouted him. He is undoubtedly one of the most talented wingers available. However, it’s still early. Arsenal hasn’t started formal talks with Bakayoko or his club. I think Arsenal will think carefully before making any decisions about that position. Right now, Bakayoko doesn’t see it as something that’s going to happen soon.”

Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, is expected to continue investing in new players this summer after narrowly missing out on the Premier League title. Declan Rice’s arrival last year set a new transfer record for the club. Despite a slow start this summer, significant signings are still possible. Bakayoko’s future will likely be determined after Belgium’s performance in Euro 2024, following a stellar season with PSV, where he scored 12 goals and provided nine assists in 33 league games, earning his first major tournament call-up.
