“Of course, he has done so much for me so I was sad. Sad for him and his coaching staff.”Todd Boehly betrayed the players and sold him without our consent
When Chelsea fired Mauricio Pochettino, Conor Gallagher felt bad for both himself and the boss who was leaving.
Soon after Pochettino took over at Stamford Bridge before the 2023–24 season, he led Chelsea to sixth place. It wasn’t enough to keep him, though, and the Argentine left on his own terms just days after the last game, when owner Todd Boehly made more changes.
Under Pochettino, Gallagher was a constant in the team and even led them as captain on more than one occasion. With five goals and seven assists, he made sure he would be on England’s Euro 2024 team and missed only one league game.
Chelsea has already hired Enzo Maresca, who used to be the manager of Leicester City, to take over after Pochettino. But when asked how he felt about the last boss, Gallagher didn’t try to hide it.
Galagher said, “Of course, I was sad because he had done so much for me.” “I feel bad for him and the coaching team, but I’m really excited about the new boss coming in. I’m excited to work with him, and so is everyone else at Chelsea.”
“I feel like I’ve come a long way this season. I owe Pochettino a lot for what he did for me at Chelsea by giving me responsibility and trust.” That makes it more likely for me to play a bigger role in this event, and I’ll do everything I can to help England do well.
“He just showed that he believed in me, which is all a player really wants.” It helps you play better when your boss likes you. Finally, it makes you feel good about yourself, which is what it did for me, so I just keep building on that. Pochettino deserves a lot of credit for giving me the chance to show Chelsea what I could do last season. Hopefully, I can still do better.

Pochettino was back at Stamford Bridge just a few weeks after leaving to coach a World XI in a charity match for Unicef as part of Soccer Aid 2014. When he thought back on his short time in West London, he said he was glad to be able to play again.
“To the owners and sports directors: thank you for giving us the chance to play in the Premier League again at this great club, Chelsea. We also appreciate the support of all the players, staff, and fans,” he wrote on Instagram.
“We know how important this football club is to you all, that’s why we work so hard to make Chelsea a team you can be proud of.” I’m so proud of how far the team has come and how hard the players and staff have worked to improve. They deserve a lot of credit, and I hope you could feel that in how they played on the field.
Even though there have been ups and downs, we always had faith in this team and knew we would get to a level where we could play well every time. The players learned a lot this season, and I hope that the big steps forward they made will only make them better in the future. It was a pleasure to work with all of them, and we value the strong ties we formed over the past year.
