Medical Done Manchester City is set to announce the signing of Argentina wonderkid kid next week who has been compared to Diego Maradona
Next week, Manchester City will announce the signing of a player like Maradona.
There is not much left to do for Manchester City to sign Claudio Echeverri from River Plate.
Manchester City News reported that the Citizens have agreed to pay £21.7 million for the Argentine U17 international. Fabrizio Romano first reported the news on X, which used to be called Twitter.
We now know when Manchester City fans can expect to hear the official news about the signing of Claudio Echeverri, thanks to Olé in Argentina…
When do you think Manchester City will name Claudio Echeverri?
A news source in Argentina says that, if everything goes as planned, Manchester City will announce the South American’s arrival next week.
Echeverri is expected to sign a six-year deal at the Etihad Stadium. He will then go back on loan to River Plate until December 2024, and maybe even longer.
Olé also said that River Plate wants to keep the 17-year-old player until the middle of 2025.
The story says that Manchester City wants to send Echeverri on loan to Girona before he joins the first team at the Etihad Stadium. That could still happen, though.
So, even though this is very exciting news about Txiki Begiristain, Manchester City fans will have to wait a while before they can see the youngster play.
What does Claudio Echeverri do?
The young star from Resistencia is known as El Diablito, which means “The Little Devil,” because of how well he dribbles the ball, how fast he is, and how powerful his shot is.
Echeverri usually plays as a centre attacking midfielder. His close control and willingness to always take the ball have made people compare him to the great Diego Maradona.
It pretty much says it all that very few 17-year-olds have ever been involved in moves worth more than £20 million.
Manchester City now has one of the best young football players in the world, and it’s not crazy to think that he could be worth £50 million by the time he plays for the Citizens.
