Manchseter City now wants to sell 28-year-old player permanently this month.and have rejected all loan offer from him
It is said that Manchester City would rather sell Kalvin Phillips forever this month than loan him out.
West Ham United was said to be in talks with the Manchester club earlier today about a possible deal to sign the 28-year-old this month.
Some behind-the-scenes information about City’s position on letting the player leave the club before the end of the January transfer window has now come to light.
City now wants to sell Phillips for good.
A new report from TEAMtalk says that City wants to sell Phillips for good, but they are still talking about the possibility of him going on loan to West Ham.
The English player was signed by the Manchester club for £45 million from Leeds United in the summer of 2022.
MORE STORIES ABOUT MAN CITY
The midfielder has only started six of the 31 games he’s played in since then, across all categories.
Because he hasn’t played much for the Manchester club, it’s not a surprise that they want to move him on.
This means that the Citizens don’t see Phillips staying at the Etihad Stadium, since it has been said that they want to sell him permanently.
When asked about the former Leeds star, Pep Guardiola said something very similar last month: “It’s hard for me to picture him in my ideal City team.”
No matter what happens with Phillips this month—whether he leaves Manchester United on loan or for good—the best thing for him would be to go somewhere where he can play regularly.
The amount of money West Ham would have to pay City to approve a permanent deal for the England player would be interesting to see. It would be interesting to see how close that amount is to the £45m they paid for him in the first place.
