Manchester United are about to sack Erik ten Hag and appoint this world class manager
Ten Hag was appointed in 2022, and in his first season in charge, United finished third in the Premier League and won the Carabao Cup. The new season has begun with difficulty, with four defeats and a number of off-field issues, but United has rebounded with two wins in a matter of days. They defeated Crystal Palace 3-0 on Tuesday night.
The Dutchman is under contract with United until June 2025, with the option to extend for another year, but it is known that renewal negotiations were always planned for roughly 18 months into the initial agreement. The club’s hierarchy intends to stick with them and has already communicated with Ten Hag’s team.
The Glazer family declared ten months ago that they were “commencing a process to explore strategic alternatives” regarding investment in the club or a transfer of ownership, and the process has destabilised the club and its workforce.

Since his appointment, Chief Executive Richard Arnold has been given power over operations and is striving to carry out contract renewals for players and personnel as usual. Marcus Rashford secured a new long-term contract this summer, and Ten Hag is reportedly in talks.
Arnold and John Murtough are said to be quite pleased with Ten Hag and continue to support him wholeheartedly, despite recent poor results and off-field concerns. They feel Ten Hag is still the best man to lead United forward, and they recently expressed their support for the 53-year-old during a feud between the manager and Jadon Sancho.
Ten Hag has confessed publicly that the club wanted him to “set and control standards” since “there was no good culture” prior to his arrival from Ajax. Despite the significant investment made in Sancho in 2021, both in terms of transfer fees and salary, those in authority are completely behind the manager.
Cristiano Ronaldo left the club after another public fight with Ten Hag last year, and Harry Maguire has also been stripped of his captaincy in recent months. The club regards Ten Hag as the major figure in fostering unity and discipline for players and staff during a period of uncertainty surrounding the club’s ownership.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim remain in the running to buy United from the Glazer family, though they are still waiting for a response. Raine Group, which is in charge of monitoring the buyout on behalf of the family, is even waiting for more word from the Glazers regarding the offers made by Zmade for United. They are thought to be holding out for £6 billion in a full transaction.
