Manchester City Striker Erling Haaland hits back at Roy Keane after claims he plays like ‘League Two player’

Erling Haaland has responded to Roy Keane’s comments regarding the Manchester City striker’s overall play being “that of a League Two player.”

Haaland is on track to win the Golden Boot for the second consecutive season, having scored 25 goals in 28 Premier League matches this season.

It builds on his record-breaking rookie season, when he scored 36 goals in 35 games.

However, the view of Haaland’s abilities has shifted this season, with many criticizing him for his lack of touches.

While his duty is to score goals, many believe he should enhance his whole game.

Haaland downplayed the comments, claiming he “doesn’t care” about Keane.

However, he responded honestly to those who believe he is not fully involved in the squad and defended his participation in it.

“There has always been a debate about how many times I should touch the ball. “When I score, no one speaks about it, but when I don’t, everyone starts talking about my touches,” he remarked in an interview with Men in Blazers.

This is a part of my existence; people will speak about me, and I have no influence over what they say. I simply have to focus on what I need to do on the field, and my job isn’t to be like Rodri and dominate the game; it’s to be in the box and complete the assaults. That’s my priority, and I don’t care what others say. Its primary goal is to assist the team win.

“In the end, you may play football without touching the ball, which may seem strange to some people. You can achieve it through motions, mental processes, and awareness.

“It’s an important component of the game. It isn’t just about touching the ball. Of course, you have to touch the ball, but I understand my job on this squad.”
