Manchester City Star Rodri has been banned fror Spain! after violating FA rules

During Spain’s 1-0 victory against Italy on Thursday night, the Manchester City star was cautioned by the referee after protesting to him before halftime. The 27-year-old received a yellow card since only the captain of the squad may talk to the referee, forcing him to miss their match against Albania on Monday, as well as the 3-0 triumph against Croatia. The regulation was implemented during Euro 2024 in an effort to reduce players surrounding the referee during decisions.

Despite that defeat, Spain advanced to the Euro 2024 round of 16 with a victory against Italy. In the process, they insured they would finish first in their group, giving them a better draw in the knockout stages. Rodri, the defensive midfielder, will then return for that crucial meeting.

According to Sofascore, Rodri’s perfect passing record (58 out of 58) in the opposing half was the highest in a Euros game since 1980. He defeated Belgium’s Dedryck Boyata against Finland in Euro 2020 and Denmark’s Andreas Christensen against Slovenia earlier this tournament.

Spain, who won the Euros in 2012 and 2008, will seek to make it three wins out of three against Albania on Monday night. Spain, along with tournament hosts Germany, is one of just two teams who have already qualified for the knockout stages.
