Manchester City Star has been kicked out of the England Squad for the Euros 2024 squad by Garath Southgate

Including Luke Shaw but not Harry Maguire, Jack Grealish, and James Maddison, Gareth Southgate has clarified the reasoning for his 26-player Euro 2024 selection.

Under his direction, Maguire has been instrumental in all three of England’s past tournament teams; he may have been fit to play some part in Germany, but Southgate said reporters the “balance” of his squad would be compromised by selecting him.

He also clarified why Grealish would not be on the flying party despite an outstanding cameo, assist, against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday night, and why Maddison, who said he believed he could have “added something new,” also will not be on the aircraft.

Southgate mentioned Shaw, who has been selected despite not kicking a ball since February, as the one “gamble” in his team and provided information on when the Man Utd left-back may be free throughout the competition.

England’s final 26-player Euro 2024 squad
About James Maddison and Jack Grealish’s absence…
“The truth is that we just believe other players have had stronger seasons, especially in the past six months or so; some of our guys have been performing very brilliantly all season in the league.

“We saw some amazing performances the other night which reinforced some of it and in the attacking section of the game we’re blessed with a lot of choices and they all vary somewhat.

“They are calls that staff members have repeatedly gone over in order to try to be fair and apply appropriate justification.

“We accept we may have chosen another path, even if we back our choices. The lads are outstanding team players, strong personalities, and fantastic guys to deal with.

“It’s depressing to have to tell them that.”
