Manchester City Pep Guardiola responds to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s claim that trophies ‘mean more’ to Liverpool than Man City

Trent Alexander-Arnold said that trophies are more important to Liverpool fans than Manchester City fans. Pep Guardiola reacted to this.

Liverpool and City play at Anfield on Sunday in a game that could decide who wins the Premier League title.

At the moment, Jurgen Klopp’s team is one point ahead of City at the top of the table, with Arsenal a point further behind.

Ahead of the game, Alexander-Arnold made things worse by saying that medals have become more important to Liverpool fans than to Man City fans in recent years.

His words to FourFourTwo were, “It’s tough.” There’s only one way to describe City and their organisation: they’re a machine that’s built to win.

“As we look back on this time, they may have won more titles and been more successful than us, but our trophies will mean more to us and our fans because of how much money both clubs have had.”

“How both clubs have built their teams and the manner in which we’ve done it, probably means more to our fans.”

Those words have made a lot of City players angry, like Erling Haaland and Ruben Dias.

The captain said, “If he wants to say that, that’s fine.” “I went to this school for a year and won the treble. It felt good.” I don’t think he knows how I feel. That’s how I felt last season, and it was nice.”

As well, Dias told BBC Radio Manchester, “We’ve won a lot in this club, especially last year with the Treble.” I think our fans know for sure how much it meant to all of us.

After all is said and done, you can only feel certain feelings if you win things. If you want to know what a Treble feels like, you have to do it yourself.

Pep Guardiola has now joined the argument. When asked about Alexander-Arnold, who is out with a knee injury, he gave a short answer.

Guardiola wouldn’t say anything else but, “I hope he gets better quickly and comes back as soon as possible.”

The Liverpool boss Klopp was also asked about what Alexander-Arnold said at the press conference before the game, and he also gave a direct answer.

Klopp said, “There’s nothing wrong with what Trent said.”
