Liverpool has been dealt a major setback as they prepare for this month’s highly anticipated Carabao Cup final showdown against Chelsea.

Liverpool suffered a huge injury setback ahead of the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea later this month.

Jurgen Klopp’s team will be missing one of its main players for the highly anticipated duel at Wembley Stadium on February 25, the season’s first major prize opportunity.

According to Paul Joyce, Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss the game against Chelsea after worsening a knee injury he had been nursing.

While no particular comeback date has been set for the 25-year-old, he is expected to be sidelined for several weeks.

The injury occurred during Liverpool’s recent 3-1 victory against Burnley in the Premier League, leading Klopp to replace Alexander-Arnold at halftime as a precaution.

This is a setback for Alexander-Arnold, who suffered a lateral tear in Liverpool’s FA Cup encounter against Arsenal last month.

Despite making his second start since the initial injury against Burnley, Alexander-Arnold’s game was cut short owing to a recurrence of knee soreness.

Following the match against Burnley, Klopp stated, “He felt there [his knee]. He got caught in the grass. We’ll see; we need more information.”

He said, “Same region in the knee. Nothing really severe, but he felt it again, and we need to see, appraise it. Trent said it was alright, but it wasn’t because he felt it, so we had to be cautious and take him off.

In Alexander-Arnold’s absence, either Joe Gomez or Conor Bradley, who has been on compassionate leave since his father’s death, might fill the vacuum when Liverpool face Chelsea in the final.

This injury setback is especially noteworthy given Alexander-Arnold’s strong contributions this season, with 29 games in all competitions and two goals to his record.

He notably set up Diogo Jota’s goal against Burnley, cementing his place in Premier League history as the defender with the most assists (58).
