Kevin De Bruyne shows off 1000 IQ against Burnley as Man City fans tell Liverpool ‘it’s over
Kevin De Bruyne demonstrated his great vision against Burnley, and Manchester City fans believe ‘it’s over’ for Liverpool.
Manchester City leads Burnley 2-0 at halftime, thanks to a quick brace from Julian Alvarez.
He scored in the 16th minute, followed by a magical moment from De Bruyne to double his side’s lead.
In the 22nd minute, the Belgium midfielder fed Alvarez with a fantastic free-kick pass, and the latter made no mistakes in front of goal.
Man City fans praised De Bruyne’s assist and believe the title fight is ‘finished’ as the star player returns to fitness.
Despite the fact that the Blues are now trailing league leaders Liverpool on the table.
One X user said, “KEVIN DE BRUYNE ASSIST. WOW, WOW, WOW. “It is over for you.”
A second tweeted: “The annual 15-game unbeaten streak begins.”
A third said, “Yep, it’s all over for them. We won.”
A fourth commented, “Sorry Klopp and Liverpool, but it’s over.”
A fifth said, “De Bruyne is so back, the league is over.”
If Manchester City wins three points tonight, they will have 46 points, while Liverpool has 48 points ahead of their game against Chelsea.
De Bruyne returned from injury in City’s FA Cup defeat of Huddersfield last weekend, and he had a perfect comeback to Premier League play on Saturday.
With City losing 2-1 against Newcastle United at St James’ Park, the 32-year-old came off the bench with 20 minutes to go. Five minutes into his cameo, he brought City level with a stunning shot before laying Manchester City’s injury-time victory with an audacious pass.
De Bruyne’s strike flew through defender Fabian Schar’s legs and into the bottom corner of the goal, and a journalist asked him after the game if that was intentional.
“It’s not coincidental, it’s well thought out,” he said. “I see with the play that I make that Julian [Alvarez] moves to the right [hand-side] and takes [Sven] Botman with him, and I see that Schar is making himself as big as possible because it’s one-on-one.
