Arsenal Gunners News

‘If I label Arteta a ‘BABY COACH’ now their fans will start coming for my head, if not how can a coach who wants to win a championship lose in a dying minute’: Thierry Henry discloses the one sad thing He observed Arsenal’s disappointing result yesterday.

Thierry Henry opines that Arsenal received a harsh reality check post their Champions League first-leg loss to Porto, emphasizing the disappointment with Gabriel Martinelli’s misplaced pass to Bukayo Saka, leading to Porto’s late goal. Speaking to CBS Sports on Paramount+, Henry also criticized goalkeeper David Raya’s early jump, which he believed contributed to the conceded goal. The shot lacked significant power, allowing Raya ample time to react, yet his positioning seemed off, further complicating matters.

The defeat didn’t catch Henry by surprise, as he sensed it looming. Reflecting on Porto’s goal, Henry highlighted the importance of maintaining composure, especially in the dying moments of an away game in Europe. He deemed the loss of possession in such a critical phase as a costly error, stressing the need for better decision-making under pressure.

Despite the setback, Arsenal remains in contention, with the absence of away goals providing a lifeline for the return leg at the Emirates. Henry acknowledged the potential for fan frustration if Porto scores, but expressed confidence in Arsenal’s ability to thrive under such circumstances. He identified Arsenal’s struggle to pose a threat from open play against Porto and stressed the importance of rediscovering their attacking prowess.

Looking ahead, Henry anticipates Mikel Arteta urging his players to exhibit a more assertive approach, aiming to regain their attacking edge. He believes that with a renewed focus and intensity, Arsenal possesses the capability to overcome Porto in the return leg. Arteta’s message to his squad will likely emphasize the need for greater dynamism and aggression, ensuring they seize control of the game and capitalize on their strengths.
