“I try to do the same runs with everyone but with him, it’s a bit more like I know I’m going to get it perfect-Erling Haaland says Man City actually have a player whose passing is just ‘perfect
The Belgian midfielder, who came on for Manchester City in the 57th minute against Everton, set up Haaland’s second goal of the game with a wonderful pass on the counter-attack.
Erling Haaland was anonymous for much of the game, but he came alive again when Kevin De Bruyne picked him out in acres of space, before dancing past Jarrad Branthwaite and slotting the ball past Jordan Pickford to lead his team to victory.
Erling Haaland calls Kevin De Bruyne a “perfect” passer.
Unfortunately for Pep Guardiola, the dynamic combo have only started three games together due to the midfield maestro’s extended absence due to a hamstring injury.
One of those games was City’s 3-0 win over Burnley in the season’s opener, in which De Bruyne was substituted due to a reoccurring injury, bringing the pair’s total minutes together this season to little over 200.
However, after Erling Haaland was fed by Kevin De Bruyne again in Manchester City’s 2-0 victory over Everton, he praised his passing and understanding with him.
“I try to perform the same runs with everyone, but with him, I feel more confident that I’ll get it right. “I know the ball will come,” he stated (via Manchester City’s official website).
“You can see I don’t even look at the ball for two seconds when he has it because I’m focusing on running towards the goal.”
“That’s the difference, nothing bad towards other players, but it’s the small difference of knowing that the ball will come.”
Erling Haaland also said that he knows where Kevin De Bruyne would play his passes after years of observing him.
“It is more natural. For me, I watch a lot of football, so I’ve known where he plays the ball for a number of years, and he hasn’t changed it in the last five.”
“For me, it was about coming in and finishing those actions.”
The Manchester City maestro is every striker’s fantasy.
Finally, Kevin De Bruyne, like any world-class creator, has a talent for analysing a striker’s movement, and as a result, he has made life easier for Erling Haaland at Manchester City.
The same is true for how the five-time Premier League winner can find Julian Alvarez in space at will.
Kevin De Bruyne’s exceptional vision and final ball appear to have put Erling Haaland at ease, as he claimed that he expects to be able to put the ball in the back of the net sooner rather than later.
Against Everton, Haaland scored his 16th Premier League goal of the season.
