“I love Manchester City and I have won every thing with the Club but my Problem is that Pep Guardiola don’t……..Julian Alvarez addresses Man City future as Felipe Melo doubles down on Jack Grealish claim
Manchester City won the Club World Cup on Friday, giving them their fifth big trophy of the year. They can now celebrate Christmas as history-makers.
Pep Guardiola’s team beat Fluminense 4-0 in Jeddah, with an own goal, two goals by Julian Alvarez, and a goal by Phil Foden. A big fight broke out between Kyle Walker and Fluminense player Felipe Melo, and Walker had to be held back by his teammates during the celebrations.
At the same time that City proved they were the best team in the world, their Premier League title rivals, Liverpool and Arsenal, played and ended the game 0-0 at Anfield. Spurs beat Everton, so the Blues will be in fifth place at Christmas. On December 27, they play the Toffees at Goodison Park.
Here are the news stories for Sunday night.
Future of Alvarez
Even though there have been a lot of rumours about him leaving City, Alvarez says he is “very happy” there.
Alvarez has now won a World Cup with both his club and his country. On Friday, he scored twice and set up another goal as City beat Fluminense in the Club World Cup final. This season, he has played in most of City’s games, but it’s not ideal for him because he can only play as a striker when Erling Haaland isn’t available or is resting.
A player of his calibre is sure to get noticed, and Alvarez has been mentioned with a move to one of the biggest clubs in Europe if they need a striker. Real Madrid has been brought up as a possible location.
Melo goes for it again
Even though Jack Grealish denied it, Melo of Fluminense has said again that he supported his team after the Club World Cup final because the City player was rude.
Soon after the game was over, players from both teams got together. City had won 4-0 over Fluminense to become World Champions. Walker and Grealish took part, and Melo led the pushing from the Brazilian side. Afterwards, he said that Grealish had been yelling “ole” when City had the ball at the end of the game, but Grealish denied that claim on social media.
Now Melo has replied to Grealish and said that the City player did not respect his team, so he “defended” his team and his younger teammates.
