Arsenal Gunners News

“I didn’t planned to leave the Club for any reason but Arsenal is the club I love wholeheartedly”: Player pens an emotional message for current club as he landed in England ahead of Arsenal transfer.

The transfer window has been open for just over two weeks. The team that finished second in the Premier League last season displayed an exciting style of play at times but ultimately fell short due to a lack of new ideas midway through the campaign.

As a result, it’s not surprising that they have been linked with several attackers recently. Names like Spain’s speedy winger Nico Williams, Viktor Gyokeres in recent weeks, and Benjamin Sesko last month have been mentioned, indicating the North London team’s intention to strengthen their attacking options this summer.

Among the latest transfer rumors, the most intriguing involves Napoli’s star striker Victor Osimhen. A source from Spain reports that Arsenal remains interested in acquiring the Nigerian forward, who is expected to leave Italy this summer. The Premier League appears to be his likely destination, with Arsenal and Chelsea leading the chase for his signature. Napoli is waiting for a club to meet Osimhen’s release clause of €120 million (around £102 million), though this amount may be negotiated down.

Signing Osimhen, despite the high cost, could be pivotal for Arsenal as they aim to end their 20-year title drought next season. Pairing him with Williams could create an electrifying attacking duo. Antonio Mango, an under-23 scout, notes that clubs are eager to sign Osimhen due to his prolific goal-scoring ability.

Last season, Osimhen, who earns £209k per week, scored 17 goals and provided four assists in 32 games. The previous season, he netted 31 goals and made five assists in 39 appearances. In comparison, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz have recorded fewer goal contributions in the same periods.

Osimhen’s impressive statistics highlight his potential impact. Last season, he achieved a goal contribution rate of 0.65 per game, significantly higher than Havertz and Jesus. This efficiency underscores why adding a player of his caliber could be transformative for Arsenal.

Furthermore, players like Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka would likely benefit from Osimhen’s scoring prowess. Manager Mikel Arteta could envision a formidable front line with Osimhen on the left and Saka, who tallied 14 assists in 47 games last season, on the right. If Arsenal manages to sign both Osimhen and Williams, they could become strong contenders for the championship next year.
