Arsenal Gunners News

“He’s just an overhyped player, nothing really special about him, i don’t rate him much”- Chelsea legend Didier Drogba claims 22-years old Arsenal star is nothing special.

Didier Drogba, the former Chelsea player, recently shared his views on William Saliba, the Arsenal defender, in an interview with ‘Get French Football News.’ Despite Saliba’s high value at Arsenal, Drogba expressed skepticism about his abilities, citing a lack of sufficient playing time for adaptation to the required level.

According to Drogba, Saliba’s individual skills are not perceived as above average, and while he acknowledges Saliba’s high level, he does not consider it extraordinary. Drogba believes Saliba needs more experience to attain an international level, and he finds it challenging to compare him with defenders like Ibrahima Konate or Dayot Upamecano for optimal development.

To better comprehend Drogba’s comments, it’s crucial to note that Saliba’s performances for France have not been as impressive as those for Arsenal. While excelling with Arsenal, Saliba has faced criticism for his displays with the French national team, unlike Konate and Upamecano, who have performed better on the international stage.

Despite Drogba’s reservations, Saliba is enjoying a successful season with Arsenal, being considered one of the team’s best players alongside Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, and Declan Rice. Despite the skepticism from Drogba, Arsenal fans continue to hold Saliba in high regard.

In the midst of these discussions, Kai Havertz faces continued criticism, being targeted for blame despite Arsenal’s overall poor performance in the last game.
