Gary Neville immediately trolls Arsenal Fans after Comedy Goal & VAR drama in West Ham United Game

Gary Neville quickly ridiculed Arsenal when West Ham bundled in the opener against the Gunners.

West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen prodded the ball across goal for Tomas Soucek, who was unmarked in the area and smashed the opener past David Raya in the Arsenal goal after 13 minutes.

However, a long VAR review ensued as officials attempted to determine whether the ball had gone out before Bowen reached it.

After a few minutes, the goal was awarded despite the fact that it was not ‘clear and obvious’ whether the ball had gone out of play.

The event was comparable to a previous issue a few months before, when Arsenal was outraged that a Newcastle goal had been awarded despite their view, among other reasons, that the ball had fled the pitch during the build-up.

During the post-match press conference, Mikel Arteta expressed his displeasure with the judgement, while Neville went on Sky Sports to essentially explain how perspective and spheres work.

And, shortly after Arsenal’s defeat at the hands of West Ham, Neville quoted tweeted a video of the aforementioned explainer, along with multiple ‘laughing’ emojis.

To the chagrin of numerous Arsenal supporters on X, he then posted a picture of himself staring over a ball on the verge of the byline.

With no way of knowing whether the ball was out of play in the build-up to Soucek’s goal, former Arsenal, Cardiff, and one-cap England international Jay Bothroyd told Sky Sports News that VAR should be able to see more angles of the event.

“The Premier League spends so much money on everything football,” he remarked, “but in these situations, there’s only one point of view.”

“There is no bird’s eye view, no view from the other side – that was too far away to zoom in on.” They should have this figured out by now.

“Those are the details they must iron out.” Based on what they’ve seen, if that was out and you’ve given a goal, that’s a horrible choice.

“Those are the things everyone is frustrated with in football right now.”
