“From onset I don’t like Arsenal as a club,I don’t know why my own teammate will have to agree terms with them despite my advice” , Vigil Dijk Confirmed His £40 million international teammate has signed personal terms to join Arsenal before next week.
Arsenal has reportedly made an initial offer to sign Fenerbahce’s left-back, Ferdi Kadioglu, according to Turkish outlet Nutuk. The 24-year-old defender has been on Arsenal’s radar during this transfer window, with earlier reports suggesting that personal terms had already been agreed upon between the club and the Turkish international.
Nutuk reports that Arsenal’s opening bid stands at £17 million, but they are not the only club showing interest in Kadioglu. Borussia Dortmund has also made a similar offer. Despite the bids, Fenerbahce is holding firm on their valuation, setting the asking price at £30 million, which would set a record for a transfer from the Turkish Super Lig.
Kadioglu’s journey from an attacking player to a versatile defender has garnered attention. While he started his career in more advanced positions, he has transitioned into a defensive role, displaying the ability to play on both flanks, despite being right-footed. However, Arsenal’s current roster already includes several left-back options, such as Oleksandr Zinchenko, Riccardo Calafiori, Jakub Kiwior, Jurrien Timber, and Takehiro Tomiyasu. Kieran Tierney, though injured, is another potential option.
Given the club’s existing depth in the left-back position, it seems improbable that Arsenal will finalize a deal for Kadioglu. Speculation about Arsenal’s interest may have been fueled by Kadioglu’s agent to attract other European clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, to meet Fenerbahce’s demands.
As the transfer window progresses, Arsenal’s focus may shift to reinforcing the midfield or securing a center-forward, with Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino emerging as a primary target. The possibility of adding a striker could become more pressing if Eddie Nketiah leaves, with Olympique Marseille reportedly keen on signing the 25-year-old forward.
