Former Chelsea and England captain John Terry has slammed the BBC over their on-air joke about Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty miss at Euro 2024
John Terry, a former Chelsea and England captain, has criticized the BBC for making an on-air joke about Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty miss at Euro 2024.
Ronaldo burst into tears after Jan Oblak saved his penalty in the first half of extra time of Portugal’s last-16 match against Slovenia on Monday evening.
In the half-time huddle, the 39-year-old was sobbing among his Portugal colleagues, and Diogo Dalot consoled him as he returned to the pitch for the second half of extra time.
During their review of Ronaldo’s missed penalty, the BBC titled the incident ‘Missiano Penaldo.
That choice irritated Terry, who called the caption a ‘disgrace’.
The former Chelsea and England captain shared a screenshot of the caption on his Instagram story, along with the statement, ‘BBC this is a shame!’
