Football News England Boss Gareth Southgate is set to become the new manager of surprising Premier League club

Manchester United is currently in the process of evaluating potential replacements for Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, with Gareth Southgate emerging as one of the contenders. Following ten Hag’s challenging season with the club, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the new minority owner, is contemplating managerial options for the upcoming summer.

According to ESPN, the club is actively exploring three potential replacements to assess their qualifications and availability. These options include Gareth Southgate, Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton, and Thomas Frank of Brentford, all of whom are being scrutinized by Ratcliffe and Ineos.

There is notable interest in De Zerbi, with reports suggesting attention from various other clubs such as Chelsea, Barcelona, and Liverpool. However, Frank, despite earning admirers at Old Trafford, may be overlooked due to his successful tenure at Brentford, where he embraced a data-led approach to team building.

Despite not having played club football since his departure from Middlesbrough in 2009, Gareth Southgate remains a viable contender. His potential candidacy is bolstered by his current role as the manager of the England national team and his past working relationship with Ashworth, who is poised to become the sports director at Manchester United.

Although England’s UEFA coefficient suggests that a fifth-place finish would be sufficient, Manchester United still needs to make up a six-point gap with Tottenham to secure qualification for the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag’s reputation remains strong in Europe, particularly in Germany, where clubs like Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, and VfB Stuttgart are reportedly interested in his services for the upcoming season.
