FIVE YEARS CONTRACT SIGNED: Arsenal have reached final stage to sign £50m world-class Winger, who can bench Saka, player set to travel to London to complete deal today – here we go
Johan Bakayoko, a prominent winger for PSV Eindhoven, is currently not on Arsenal’s target list, according to Fabrizio Romano, as reported by GIVEMESPORT. Despite numerous clubs showing interest in Bakayoko this summer, Arsenal is still deliberating their options.
Romano identifies the 21-year-old Bakayoko as one of the most talented wingers available. Following another impressive season in the Dutch league, Bakayoko is now turning his attention to Euro 2024 with Belgium. His teammate, Romelu Lukaku, has praised him as “incredible.” This summer promises to be significant for Bakayoko.
Liverpool has already expressed interest in Bakayoko. The club’s new manager, Arne Slot, is familiar with Bakayoko from his tenure in the Netherlands. With a valuation of £43 million, Bakayoko has drawn attention from the Premier League for a second consecutive summer. Vincent Kompany, former Burnley manager, had also shown interest and discussed his vision with Bakayoko.
Bakayoko, who debuted for PSV’s first team in 2022, is regarded as one of Belgium’s finest young talents, alongside Jeremy Doku and Lois Openda. However, Romano notes it is premature to conclude if Bakayoko will join Arsenal this summer. The Gunners are still evaluating their need for an additional winger, given they already have Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, and Bukayo Saka.
Arsenal is proceeding with caution regarding Bakayoko. Romano informed GIVEMESPORT that a move to Arsenal is “not something imminent.” He clarified, “I saw these rumors, but I have no evidence that anything serious is happening between Arsenal and Bakayoko.” While many clubs have scouted him, and he is among the top wingers available, Arsenal has yet to initiate formal talks with Bakayoko or PSV. Romano believes Arsenal will carefully consider their options before making a decision. As it stands, a transfer to Arsenal does not seem imminent for Bakayoko.
After narrowly missing out on the Premier League title, Mikel Arteta’s team intends to invest more this summer. Last year, they broke their transfer record by signing Declan Rice. Despite a quiet start to the summer, Arsenal might still secure significant signings.
Bakayoko’s future will likely be decided post-Euro 2024. He had a standout season with PSV, netting 12 goals and providing nine assists in 33 league games, earning him a call-up to Belgium’s national team for the major tournament.
Eddie Nketiah is expected to depart from Arsenal this summer. Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth conveyed to GIVEMESPORT that Nketiah is “very likely” to leave. The 25-year-old struggled for playing time under Mikel Arteta, scoring only five goals in 27 league appearances. Several Premier League clubs, including Wolves, Crystal Palace, and Fulham, are interested in Nketiah, while Arsenal seeks to strengthen their squad with a new attacker before the next season.
