Enzo Fernandez shuts exit rumours down with telling celebration after scoring against Aston Villa
Enzo Fernandez put an end to speculation that he will leave Chelsea following his incredible free-kick against Aston Villa.
Chelsea sought to bounce back from their recent poor performance by defeating Unai Emery’s Villa in the FA Cup fourth-round replay on Wednesday night at Villa Park.
Connor Gallagher and Nicolas Jackson helped Mauricio Pochettino’s team jump out to an early 2-0 lead.
Pochettino is facing mounting pressure to improve upon Chelsea’s recent losses to Wolverhampton Wanderers and Liverpool.
Many people anticipated that Villa would defeat their opponents, but Emery’s team was not competitive from the start.
The Argentine midfielder Fernandez gave the Blues a 3-0 lead in the second half with a spectacular free kick that found the top corner of Emiliano Martinez’s goal.
In celebration of his goa, Fernandez displayed his to the camera by taking off his shirt.
The midfield player then seemed to indicate that he would be sticking with the team by pointing his fingers.
Despite having only joined Chelsea a year prior, there have been reports that he is considering leaving the team.
Pochettino is optimistic he can turn this situation despite the increasing pressure.
“I believe we are all in this together, and that’s important,” he stated. I got a great SMS message from [the owners].
“I communicate with them and the sporting director on a daily basis, of course.”
“We need to build a good connection with the fans,” Pochettino continued. The supporters must realise that Chelsea, the project, and everything else are different when they visit Stamford Bridge. It is the staff’s and the players’ job to establish a rapport and something that both parties value.
“We must demonstrate to the supporters our genuine concern for the team. I swear to you and the supporters that the players are motivated to play well and win games.
