England international Trio have officially announced this morning that the have changed Thier nationality and will play for this Country
Three England players were “scouted” to move national teams after Southgate turned them down. Euro 2024 is coming up in a little over six months, and England manager Gareth Southgate already knows most of his team. This has left many Premier League players thinking about their futures with their country.
Anthony Gordon, Harvey Barnes, and Tino Livramento are all exciting players for Newcastle who could be going to Scotland instead of England. Gareth Southgate is not likely to call them up for Euro 2024.
Southgate will choose one more team before he names his final 23-person group for the tournament in Germany. England is in Group C and will play Serbia, Denmark, and Slovenia. That will happen in March, when they play friendly games against Brazil and Belgium.
Still, Gordon, Barnes, and Livramento may be at the tournament because all three of them can play for Steve Clarke’s Scotland. Also, Elliott Anderson, who plays for Newcastle, is one of those three possible Scotland internationals.
There is a well-known link between the Tartan and Toon armies: John Carver, who used to be Newcastle’s temporary manager and is now Clarke’s assistant. “In Newcastle, there are actually four,” Carver told Chronicle Live this in an interview.
They are Harvey Barnes, Anthony Gordon, Elliot Anderson, and Tino Livramento. We’re always looking for good people to join the group. People who want to be a part of the journey are what we want.
“Some of the Newcastle boys who were mentioned are just starting out at St. James’ Park and should focus on that before they talk about which country they want to play for.” That’s what matters. I believe I have lived in Newcastle for a very long time.
The former Magpies boss also said, “Two young players like Elliot and Anthony are not the same as, say Harley Barnes.” Harvey has been called up by England but hasn’t had any chances. What will happen when Harvey is healthy again?
Anthony will decide what to do when he needs to. England will make things happen because they’d be stupid not to. The four at Newcastle aren’t very many. They are many, and we are always trying to get better and make things better.
As of now, Gordon is the most likely of the four to get a late call-up from Southgate. He won the under-21 European Championships with England in July, which is a big deal. The Three Lions, on the other hand, have a stable team, so it would be strange if Southgate called up a rookie in March, let alone in June for Euro 2024.
Barnes, on the other hand, has already played one game for England, in a friendly against Wales three years ago, but the former Leicester striker has been hurt for most of this season. Recently, Livramento, a player who used to play for Chelsea and Southampton, has had a lot of game time, even though England has a lot of skilled full-backs.
What about Anderson? The 21-year-old midfielder played for Scotland as a youth, but he quit their senior team in September, even though he had already training with them, because he wasn’t ready to commit his future to Clarke’s strong team. But Carver says the door is still open: “He needs his freedom and for people to stop talking about what country he can play for.”
He needs to focus on his job as a Newcastle United player. Because it’s also my team, I have a stake in it. He needs to heal up and play everyday in a black and white shirt. Any player, at any level, can come in. Even people who have played before.
Steve Clarke has a wide range of ideas, and if he sees someone who can help us get better, the door is always open. Elliott is a young boy who needs time to grow. He’s going to decide for himself. He will be blessed and have good luck no matter what he does.”
