DEAL COMPLETED: Arsenal eventually complete the purchase of £74 million World Cup hero after club agreed to cut his transfer fee in favor of Arsenal. Player scheduled to arrive tomorrow for medical.

Arsenal has reportedly entered into discussions with Sporting Lisbon over a potential transfer of striker Viktor Gyokeres, according to the Portuguese publication *Record*. The Premier League club, having already secured the signings of David Raya and Riccardo Calafiori, is still looking to strengthen its squad before the transfer window closes on August 30.

Arsenal has been actively searching for a new forward, and informal conversations have taken place with Sporting Lisbon regarding Gyokeres. However, the Portuguese club is firm in its stance that any offers must meet the striker’s release clause of £86 million.

Last season, Arsenal finished second in the Premier League, narrowly missing out on the title. Despite a strong finish, crucial defeats against teams like Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Fulham, and West Ham United highlighted their lack of goal-scoring power. The addition of a proven striker like Gyokeres could address these issues and bolster Arsenal’s attack.

Gyokeres has been in excellent form, scoring 43 goals and registering 15 assists in 50 appearances for Sporting, making him a highly attractive option for Arsenal. However, financial constraints could pose a challenge for the club, as they have already spent significantly in the current transfer window and are operating within Premier League spending regulations.

Arsenal may need to sell additional players to fund a move for Gyokeres. With time running out in the transfer window, any deal will require swift negotiations, especially as Sporting may be reluctant to sell without adequate time to find a replacement.
