Chelsea to loan out six and sell 10 this summer as Boehly bins £210m worth of *talent*

Romelu Lukaku, Armando Broja, Mykhaylo Mudryk, Conor Gallagher, and Raheem Sterling are key players for Chelsea. This analysis will review the entire Chelsea squad, identifying which players should be retained, sold, or loaned out. We have not extended this exercise to Arsenal and Manchester United as they lack comparable young talent.

**Sell: Robert Sanchez**

Selling Robert Sanchez, despite potential controversy, is logical given Chelsea’s abundance of goalkeepers and Sanchez’s tendency for mistakes.

**Keep: Djordje Petrovic**

Djordje Petrovic performed better than Sanchez last season and should be retained.

**Neutral: Marcus Bettinelli**

Marcus Bettinelli’s role is primarily to fill numbers, and his presence does not necessitate any action.

**Loan: Lucas Bergstrom**

Lucas Bergstrom is unlikely to become Chelsea’s starting goalkeeper. Loaning him out to increase his value is advisable.

**Sell: Gabriel Slonina**

Gabriel Slonina’s signing has proven ineffective. Chelsea should cut their losses and sell him.

**Sell: Kepa Arrizabalaga**

Kepa Arrizabalaga remains the most expensive goalkeeper in history but has not justified his cost. Following his loan at Real Madrid, it is time for Chelsea to part ways with him permanently.

**Keep: Reece James**

Despite frequent injuries, Reece James should be retained. As Chelsea’s captain and one of the best right-backs globally, his potential peak performance justifies keeping him.

**Keep: Malo Gusto**

Malo Gusto has benefited from James’ injury struggles, showing significant promise despite a shaky start. He should be retained.

**Sell: Malang Sarr**

Malang Sarr, under contract until 2025, has not met expectations. Chelsea should sell him.

**Keep: Benoit Badiashile**

Benoit Badiashile has shown inconsistency but possesses considerable potential. Selling him is unnecessary.

**Keep: Axel Disasi**

Axel Disasi is comparable to Badiashile in potential and should be retained for further evaluation.

**Keep: Levi Colwill**

Levi Colwill is essential for Chelsea. Although Bayern Munich is interested, selling him would be a mistake after the effort invested in his recent contract.

**Sell: Trevoh Chalobah**

With Levi Colwill outperforming Trevoh Chalobah and the club’s depth in center backs, selling Chalobah, a talented player, makes sense.

**Loan: Alfie Gilchrist**

Alfie Gilchrist, despite some playtime last season, would benefit from a Championship loan. Leeds United is reportedly interested.

**Keep: Wesley Fofana**

Wesley Fofana, recovering from another injury, has significant potential and should remain in Chelsea’s starting lineup.

**Sell: Ben Chilwell**

Chelsea may consider selling Ben Chilwell, particularly given the sale of Ian Maatsen and the acquisition of other left-backs. Improving Chilwell’s position appears unlikely.

**Keep: Marc Cucurella**

Marc Cucurella, part of the £100 million investment in left-backs, had a strong season under Mauricio Pochettino. His retention is justified despite prior performance concerns.
