Chelsea star set to miss Carabao Cup final against Liverpool after picking up groin injury: Reports

Benoit Badiashile, a defender for Chelsea, is facing a setback with a month-long injury, dealing a blow to the team’s current injury woes. This leaves him unable to participate in significant upcoming matches, including the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool and Premier League clashes with Manchester City and Brentford. The injury, reported by the Evening Standard, sidelines Badiashile due to a groin issue sustained during a recent FA Cup fourth-round replay match against Aston Villa, which Chelsea won 3-1.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino expressed concern about Badiashile’s injury, stating that they need to await scan results to assess the extent of the damage. Former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas praised Badiashile’s defensive abilities, particularly his skills as a ball-playing center-back, highlighting his potential among young talents in Europe.

With Badiashile out, Chelsea faces lineup adjustments for upcoming matches. Unless Pochettino opts for injured players Trevoh Chalobah or Levi Colwill, veteran defender Thiago Silva is expected to step in. Pochettino acknowledged the team’s progress following their recent victory over Aston Villa, hinting at a lineup resembling the one that secured the win.

Looking ahead, Chelsea will confront Leeds United in the FA Cup fifth round after their Carabao Cup final encounter with Liverpool on February 25th. Pochettino emphasized the importance of building on their recent successes and maintaining a positive attitude as they strive for further victories.
