Chelsea Star Cole Palmer was seen at a concert with a drink after the loss against Wolves yesterday
In Sunday’s match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Cole Palmer, a forward for Chelsea, made headlines by setting a new club record despite his team’s 4-2 loss. Since joining Chelsea from Manchester City in the summer, the England international has become a crucial player, featuring in 19 Premier League games, with 15 starts, including the recent encounter at Stamford Bridge.
Palmer’s impact was immediate as he scored in the 19th minute, courtesy of a precise pass from Moises Caicedo. This marked his third consecutive home goal across all competitions. Notably, his goal also marked his eleventh league goal of the 2023-24 season, breaking a club record and making him the first player aged 21 or younger to achieve double-digit goals in a single Premier League campaign.
However, despite Palmer’s early contribution, Wolves staged a comeback, securing three points in West London. Brazilian striker Matheus Cunha blocked Palmer’s attempt in the 22nd minute, and Axel Disasi’s own goal compounded Chelsea’s woes at halftime. Cunha went on to complete his first hat-trick for Wolves in the second half, while Thiago Silva managed to pull one back for Chelsea in the dying moments of the game, though it was not enough to alter the outcome.
This defeat adds to Chelsea’s recent struggles, as they have now suffered four consecutive league losses under manager Rafael Benítez, following a 4-1 defeat to Liverpool. Earlier setbacks against Newcastle United and Manchester City in November had already highlighted defensive vulnerabilities, with Chelsea conceding four goals in consecutive games. Consequently, Chelsea finds themselves languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League standings, while Wolves have ascended to the tenth position.
