“BIG FLOP”: Dortmund fans made fun of Jadon Sancho, a loanee from Manchester United, for his poor performance, which included dropping the ball 12 times during the match against PSV with a score of 1-1. ‷
Jadon Sancho, on loan from Manchester United, had another underwhelming display as Borussia Dortmund were held to a 1-1 draw in the Champions League by Eredivisie heavyweights PSV Eindhoven.
Dortmund took the lead in the 24th minute as Donyell Malen scored a superb goal.
After collecting a pass from former United midfielder Marcel Sabitzer, Malen turned and shot, finishing in the upper right corner.
The Bundesliga squad appeared to be in control, preventing PSV from scoring, but the Dutch club knotted the score just eleven minutes into the half.
The striker, Luuk de Jong, hit a penalty kick that flew well beyond Alexander Meyer’s reach in goal and into one of the bottom corners.
Most United fans’ attention was focused on Sancho, who had a forgettable outing against Wolfsburg at the weekend.
Sancho played 80 minutes in that match, but only 68 minutes against PSV.
The Englishman achieved a personal pass accuracy of 71%.
He lost possession of the ball twelve times. Sancho was found to be offside once. He didn’t take a shot or even generate an opportunity for his teammates.
The winger, of course, had no goal contributions to his name.
According to Sofascore, Sancho had 31 ball touches while on the pitch. He attempted to deliver two crosses and only found his intended target once.
The 23-year-old landed one of two long balls he attempted to ping.
It appears that tolerance with Sancho is already running thin among some of Dortmund’s supporters.
“[Marco] Reus and Sancho are complete failures today.” It’s a shame, I was expecting for Champions League BVB, but the situation isn’t improving,” one Bundesliga fan commented on X.
“Sancho is actually rewarded for his previous stint at BVB.” He has demonstrated nothing, yet you have a young talent who can trouble a defence from the bench. “[Edin] Terzic is loyal to the absolute worst players,” another stated.
One fan had had enough, exclaiming, “Get Sancho outta here, man.”
After flourishing in the first two Bundesliga games with two assists, Sancho reverted to his customary image of struggle. The footballer born in 2000 has yet to make his debut for Germany. Notably, Sancho has not played a full 90-minute encounter since returning to the Bundesliga to play football.
