MORE STORIES ABOUT MAN CITY
City had an easy afternoon, but the player made it look much easier than it was, and Rico Lewis was in great shape again…
The numbers Rico Lewis got in the win over Huddersfield Town are amazing.
Lewis was always going to start today since he didn’t play last weekend in the Premier League against Sheffield United.
At first, the young player lined up in centre with Mateo Kovacic. When Manuel Akanji got hurt, though, he had to move to right back.
Lewis played great everywhere; it didn’t matter where he was.
The 19-year-old was very mature for his age and was great with the ball when he had it. Based on figures from Sofascore, Lewis had 131 touches at the end of the game, which was second only to Ruben Dias (167).
The way Lewis threw the ball was perfect. He tried 118 passes today and completed 112, which is a crazy 95% completion rate.
Impressively, Lewis was sometimes a threat when he was alive. He made four “key” passes, which was more than any other player today.
He was very important in City’s second goal, too, as he touched Matheus Nunes’s cross before Alvarez turned it in.
Lewis has a lot of ability.
As it turned out, this was a walk in the park for City after Huddersfield got off to a good start.
But don’t take away from Lewis’s play; he continues to amaze City fans despite being so young.
It’s hard to believe he’s only 19 years old when he can control games like this.
The amazing thing about Lewis today was that he didn’t get off track at all when Akanji got hurt and had to change positions. He kept paying, and every chance he got, he requested the ball.
It’s really scary to think about how good he’ll be in a few years.
