“I can’t bench him for you no matter how bad he plays, he will always start all matches for Manchester City even when he is injured I will use an Academy player”- Pep Guardiola says he has an untouchable player he can never sub off after snubbing a player who was already on the touch line against Everton

Pundit believes £63 million Manchester City player Rodri is having a detrimental affect on his teammate Jamie O’Hara has now stated that Rodri is having a negative impact on Kalvin Phillips at Manchester City.

The 37-year-old made the remarks during an interview with talkSPORT.

So, what did Manchester City say about Kalvin Phillips and Rodri? Let us have a look…

Jamie O’Hara’s comments about Kalvin Phillips and Rodri
The talkSPORT expert says the England international “looks completely out of sorts” when he does take the pitch, knowing he has no chance of pushing the £62.8m Spain international down the pecking order.

“I think he deserves another chance,” O’Hara remarked. Manchester City has had a difficult season. He was quite good at Leeds, and they spent some money on him. He now appears absolutely disoriented when he plays since he knows he will never be selected ahead of Rodri. They’re even playing John Stones and Rico Lewis ahead of him now.”

Although football is a team sport, and pressure to fight for positions is always present at every club, it must be emotionally taxing for Phillips.

Pep Guardiola ignored Manchester City’s No.4 once more in Wednesday’s 3-1 victory over Everton.

Phillips has thus not appeared in the Premier League since the 6-1 win against Bournemouth at the start of November, when he was given 19 minutes off the bench.

Kalvin Phillips is available for sale or loan at Manchester City.
Manchester City appears to be simply waiting for the January transfer market to start so Phillips can be offloaded.

Sky Sports has already reported that Txiki Begiristain intends to recruit a young, homegrown replacement for the Yorkshireman, who has reportedly agreed to join Juventus.

The 90-minute piece even outlined Manchester City’s asking price – the Citizens are willing to suffer a £5 million loss on the initial £45 million investment.

Keep an eye on Phillips’ status when January arrives, as we would be amazed if the 28-year-old remains at the Etihad Stadium.
