“You took our assistant coach as your manager, I’ll never support Arsenal to win the league in my lifetime”- Man City defender Kyle Walker aims dig at Arsenal and reveals why he would rather prefer Liverpool to win the Premier League title instead of Arsenal

In a recent conversation on Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE YouTube channel, Manchester City defender Kyle Walker didn’t mince his words when discussing the Premier League title race. The spotlight turned particularly on Arsenal, as Walker expressed his preference for Liverpool to win the league over the Gunners, should Manchester City not secure the title themselves.

The Premier League landscape has intensified, with Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City all vying for the top spot, separated by a narrow two-point margin. With Arsenal momentarily poised to claim the lead with a victory against Brentford, anticipation surged ahead of a crucial showdown between Liverpool and City at Anfield.

It’s worth noting City’s historical struggles at Anfield under Pep Guardiola, having secured just one victory there during the Covid restrictions era. The upcoming schedule doesn’t ease the pressure, as City faces Newcastle in the FA Cup quarter-finals before locking horns with Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.

During his appearance on Ferdinand’s channel, Walker acknowledged Arsenal’s strides forward under their current setup, which notably includes tactics and personnel borrowed from Guardiola’s coaching staff. He pointed to players like Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus, who have made an impact while on loan or as part of the Arsenal squad.

Despite recognizing Arsenal’s progress, Walker exuded confidence in City’s ability to prevail, drawing on past victories, including a convincing 4-1 win against Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium last season. However, Walker’s history with Arsenal’s arch-rivals, Tottenham, adds an extra layer of sentiment. He confessed his reluctance to see Arsenal clinch the league title due to his allegiance to Spurs, expressing a clear preference for Liverpool to triumph if City falls short.

Addressing recent comments from Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, who compared the significance of Liverpool’s trophies to City’s, Walker opted for a diplomatic stance, avoiding any direct confrontation, and maintaining focus amidst the spirited rivalry.
