“When we played against Liverpool at Anfield, I think too many decisions … not one key decision was for us. Two penalties were not given. VAR helped them to beat us, 50-50s, always for another colour. Always red. I want to be treated in a fair way.”
Mauricio Pochettino has requested ‘fairness’ from referee Chris Kavanagh before Chelsea’s Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on Sunday.
The Chelsea manager was angered by several decisions that went against his team during their 4-1 loss to Liverpool at Anfield on January 31.
The game marks Pochettino’s first opportunity to win a trophy with Chelsea, while Jurgen Klopp is hoping for further silverware before his time at Liverpool ends in May.
When asked if there is added pressure on Klopp and Liverpool to win a title this season, Pochettino responded, “Good question.
‘There is no pressure on him, no. Maybe it’s for those who want to celebrate alongside Liverpool.
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino reacts to the fourth official after Chelsea are not granted a penalty. Liverpool vs Chelsea
‘I believe we must be certain that we will compete while remaining fair in all decisions.
During the game versus Liverpool at Anfield, there were numerous choices made that did not benefit us. Two penalties were not imposed. Duels are 50-50, always for a different colour. Always red. I want to be treated fairly.
Of course, we will celebrate. I am the first to say that Liverpool is incredible, and Klopp is one of the top coaches in the world.
‘But, with my previous experience playing there, I believe what I want from Wembley is to go there and not feel pressure. It is to play a game at the same level, with the best team winning. But not to feel the pressure of others around you.
