Very Sad Pochettino news has been announced this morning by Chelsea owner Todd Boehly if he fails to beat FUllham tomorrow
The market has been quiet in January, partly due to intense negotiations taking place behind closed doors at the largest spenders over the previous three windows.
They are mostly interested in Victor Osimhen of Napoli, a major striker. However, the £140 million purchase of 1,000 shares is not seen as a budgetary indicator.
It’s already known that Mauricio Pochettino has received word that they don’t have to sell in order to purchase. This Chelsea hierarchy has typically tried new approaches and is always considering perspectives that others haven’t considered.
However, some football players would go beyond. A typical explanation is that Chelsea is engaged in an unprecedented experiment in football history.
If so, they might be about to discover something else.
The final four games in each of the three competitions might very well determine the outcome of the campaign. In spite of claims that Pochettino is safe, they might also decide how he is treated in the future. It’s still possible for results to gain momentum on their own, and this is exactly what this phase threatens.
Chelsea’s Premier League matchup against Fulham on Saturday is one of those odd ones where, although it’s a home rivalry, they should be expected to win, no one would be shocked if they lost. A successful outcome is nearly more significant because there will be a 10-day pause after, giving everyone plenty of time to consider what comes next.
That concludes with Chelsea facing Middlesbrough in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final. It would be a shame to lose this opportunity. Chelsea is behind 1-0.
Even if Michael Carrick has performed incredibly well, this is still a Championship team playing a club that has made the kind of investments that typically results in Champions League victories. All of these could also lead to a first final during this ownership’s tenure.
Next up is an FA Cup matchup with Aston Villa, who have done so well that they’ve practically been the opposite of Chelsea. It also won’t go unnoticed because Pochettino was the first person Villa Park management wanted, prior to the historic Unai Emery. It might be an additional outcome that serves as a lesson as well.
A trip to Liverpool that carries a lot of risk concludes the month and, symbolically, comes just before what many consider to be the club’s main event, transfer deadline day.
Not to mention the starting lineup, who knows what Chelsea’s season may hold at that point.
Although this highlights one of the issues, Pochettino has been trying to fire a response to Middlesbrough’s setback in training. Dissatisfaction has been expressed at how nothing seems to change and how it seems like there is constantly a step backward. Simply put, nobody, not even Pochettino, was prepared for the team to change at the pace that it has.
A large portion of the squad still needs to mature, which contributes to it.
It has been so experimental because of this. The age distribution is not like anything you’d find at a private club in the current game. Even the most well-known “young” teams, Manchester United in 1996 and Ajax in 1995, had a large number of older players.
It is believed that the football team is “almost entirely kids” and “not a usual team to coach” from the surrounding area and even within the club. Those who work in academy football frequently take the position that many of the players would still be in the under-21 team instead of managing one of the loudest clubs in contemporary football five years ago.
Because some players still require more tactical education, rather than being prepared to take on the system, it has been more challenging to impose the manager’s system. The difficulties experienced by their loan players provide more evidence of that. Even at the youth level, there’s a feeling that some new signings’ ceilings aren’t as high as Chelsea’s numerous grads. For instance, some believe that Benoit Badiashile, who spent more than £32 million, should be ranked lower than Bashir Humphries. It doesn’t address the notion that they’ve just assembled the brightest young talent in preparation for an impending future.
Pochettino doesn’t have the right players in other situations. Conor Gallagher is one of the few people who the management can achieve what they want right away, and for that reason the hierarchy would be willing to sell him for profit and sustainability. He nearly fits Pochettino’s ideal midfielder profile in his typical 4-3-3 formation. After that, the Argentine is still figuring out how to best utilise Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo in tandem.
That may seem impressive for two midfielders who together cost £221 million, but the management was paying exorbitant prices when the club was at least a little hesitant about both acquisitions. In time, the players could become that valuable. Their lower pay, however, indicate that they are no longer there.
Football players are increasingly choosing to fit the younger demographic, particularly as the sport becomes more competitive and financially demanding. When it comes to their adaptation to a world under state control, Real Madrid has adopted this concept more than anybody else. Until now, that is. Chelsea has gone above and above.
It has caused Pochettino to swing from extreme to severe. This is the exact antithesis of a Paris Saint-Germain team that is loaded with talent. During Pochettino’s final season at the Parc des Princes, a number of players arrived on a massive salary, free of charge. The Argentine struggled to install his system there since the club’s star system just didn’t allow it. The licence to float was granted specifically to the three assailants. At PSG, no manager is given any authority. As a result, no one in leadership has succeeded at all, not even his predecessor at Stamford Bridge, Thomas Tuchel.
To all of this, it’s fair to say that Pochettino was aware of the challenges he would face. The majority of it was explained throughout the protracted appointment procedure, where the prerequisites were stated.
Pochettino is under pressure from that in addition to this job. It may even serve as a case study on how making the wrong decisions at the wrong time might guarantee that a career is not fulfilled.
Although not as much as he was in 2018, the Argentine is still regarded as a coach that elite teams would want to hire.
Reaction from Cole Palmer regarding Middlesbrough
(REUTERS) Manchester United continued to show a long-term interest at that time, but Real Madrid was eager to appoint him. Pochettino remained at Tottenham Hotspur despite intentionally trying to remedy a rising staleness, out of trust and perhaps emotion.
That may have been somewhat validated by the 2018–19 Champions League final, but a few months later he succumbed to that staleness. Therefore, there is a claim that Pochettino made the same error twice. He took the incorrect positions because they were large because he waited too long to accept them.
However, this is still early in the game. If the analysis above seems bleak, the pressure is only coming from an uncertain future. Pochettino may try to thwart it.
Despite the club’s dismay at the rate of progress, everyone agrees that things are looking far better than they were during Graham Potter’s tenure.
The analytics of Chelsea are encouraging. Some game segments have seemed well. The idea is that Pochettino’s work thus far would appear significantly better with some superior finishing, the kind that a club of this calibre ought to possess. After all, Christopher Nkunku hasn’t really been there much. They want another forward now.
Pochettino similarly has more power over moves, having a meeting with the hierarchy back in September after a tumultuous window.
However, given that Chelsea is now subject to market restrictions for the first time under this ownership, there is almost irony in this. That has also increased attention to the important figures. The fact that Todd Boehly hasn’t been as noticeable is noteworthy considering that he recently showed up at the Golden Globes sporting a new haircut.
All of this has led to a calmer market and a more muted Chelsea.
The next several weeks may bring a lot of noise, either way.
