“This does not speak well of Arteta, as our first team players were overwhelmed by common Liverpool Academy players last night; Arteta must address this immediately or he may be sacked in the future.” Arsenal great Arsene Wenger discloses the one problem Arteta is currently facing, which needs to be fixed before the season starts.

Arsene Wenger has pointed out a significant issue that Mikel Arteta needs to resolve promptly, especially after the recent performance where Arsenal’s first-team players were outplayed by Liverpool’s academy players. Wenger suggested that failing to address this problem could jeopardize Arteta’s future with the club.

Liverpool continued their impressive pre-season run with a 2-1 victory over Arsenal in a friendly match in the USA. Both teams had won their previous fixtures on their American tours, with Liverpool beating Real Betis and Arsenal defeating Manchester United. The match took place at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field.

Under Arne Slot’s management, Liverpool maintained their characteristic style, suggesting continuity with Jurgen Klopp’s system. They took the lead early in the match, with a goal that highlighted their attacking prowess. Harvey Eliott controlled a long ball from the goalkeeper and passed it to Mohamed Salah, who outran the Arsenal defense and scored past Karl Hein.

Liverpool extended their lead in the 34th minute with a goal from Fabio Carvalho, following another assist from Eliott. Carvalho capitalized on a well-executed team move, finishing confidently from the edge of the box.

Arsenal managed to score just before halftime, with Kai Havertz redirecting a cross into the net, reducing the deficit. Despite creating better chances in the second half, Arsenal struggled to find the back of the net, highlighting their need for a clinical centre-forward.

As Arsenal’s pre-season progresses, questions remain about whether they will address this crucial gap in their squad. Their current transfer activities suggest a focus elsewhere, leaving the centre-forward position unaddressed.
