“They can score as many goals as they like, they’ll end up being the second or third best by the end of the season”– Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola reveals his judgment on Liverpool chances of winning the Premier League title alongside Manchester United this season, claiming he has TWO players he will utilize to knock Arsenal out of the title race.

If things go really well, Pep Guardiola and Man City might still have to play Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool again in the Premier League. When City and Liverpool played to a thrilling 1-1 draw at Anfield earlier this month, it was thought that the great rivalry between the two famous managers was over.

They have played each other 22 times in English football, and the German has won eight of those games, while the Spanish has only won seven. That being said, Guardiola has won more trophies.

Klopp has won every major award with Liverpool, including his second League Cup last month, giving him a total of eight trophies at Anfield. Guardiola, on the other hand, has won 16 trophies with Man City, including five Premier League titles.

This year, both Liverpool and Manchester City are in the running for the title. With 10 Premier League games left, the Reds are one point ahead of the defending champions, who are presently in third place.

But because of that, they are still fighting, but their 1-1 draw at Anfield marked the end of an era before Klopp leaves at the end of the season. It was the last time Guardiola’s Man City would play against Klopp’s Liverpool. Is that right?

It was possible that they could still play one last game at Wembley Stadium in the FA Cup, so that was always a possibility. But after losing to Manchester United in the quarterfinals on Sunday, that chance is gone.

There is a chance, though, that Klopp’s Liverpool and Guardiola’s Man City will play each other again. There are many possible ways that the Premier League season could end.

Arsenal is in first place in the league right now, but only because they have more goals than Liverpool. But their next game is against City on March 31. If they lose, they could easily fall to third place, behind their two main competitors for the title.

Because City and Liverpool tied 1-1 at Anfield, they will play off for the title at a neutral site to decide who will be winner at the end of the season.

If the top two teams in the league end with the same number of points, the league ranks are determined by goal difference, then goals scored, then most points in head-to-head games, and finally most away goals in head-to-head games.

Liverpool has one more point than City and a better goal difference by four (+39 to +35), since they’ve scored two more goals and given up two less. These records might still be the same by May.

The head-to-head result is the last thing that matters. But Liverpool and Manchester City tied 1-1 both at Etihad and Anfield.

So, if they can’t be split up, there would have to be a 39th game.

Don’t forget

There won’t be a play-off game to decide the winner, though, if Liverpool and Arsenal finish with the same number of points in the Premier League. Because Arsenal has scored five more goals than Liverpool and given up two fewer, their goal difference is +46. They’ve also beaten Liverpool in their last meeting.

Back in December, they tied 1-1 at Anfield. In February, they beat them 3-1 at the Emirates.

In October, Arsenal beat Man City 1-0 at home. So, they could only play Guardiola’s team in a play-off for the Premier League title if they lose 1-0 at the Etihad next month.

Of course, a lot of things would need to happen for this play-off to really happen. But it’s still possible that they will have to play a 39th game to pick the winner.

At the very least, it would be the perfect way for Klopp and Guardiola’s feud to end in England: in a play-off match with the most at stake ever. One more game between the old rivals is still possible. It would be the most exciting end to a Premier League season ever.
