Raheem Sterling sent a message to Chelsea fans after how he played against Leicester City. The Blues made it to the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday, but Sterling had a rough day.
The Chelsea forward was caught and got the penalty in the first half. He took it himself instead of Cole Palmer, who was supposed to do it. Sterling, 29, tried to put it in the middle, but his shot went to the right of the custodian and was easily saved by Jakub Stolarczyk of Leicester.
The England player also missed a one-on-one chance later in the half, but he set up Palmer’s goal before halftime to make it 2-0 for Chelsea. After the Blues lost their lead in the second half, Sterling was criticised for sending a free kick from the edge of the box over the goal. Chelsea fans yelled at Mauricio Pochettino to “Get him off,” and when the forward was changed, they were booed and cheered.

Last few weeks, Sterling hasn’t been at his best, so he wasn’t picked for the latest England team. In his press conference after the game, Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Chelsea, supported Sterling’s choice to take the penalty.
Pochettino said, “Cole can miss, Raheem can miss, look for me, the decision is there, and of course I’ll always support the decision of my players on the pitch.” “That’s going to get bigger and more grown up, and we’re always happy with the choices we make.”
When asked how Sterling dealt with the nerves at Stamford Bridge, Pochettino said, “I don’t think I can hide anything.” Yeah, I think you agree with me that the feelings weren’t good for him.
