Referee Punched in face by Club President in Shocking Turkish Super LIG Clash

The president of the club punched the referee in the face during a shocking Turkish Super LIG match.

In Turkey, league games have been PUSHED OFF INFINITELY because a club chief punched and kicked a referee in the head on the field.

The shocking event happened after Ankaragucu and Rizespor tied 1-1 at the Eryaman Stadium in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, on Monday night. An goal in the seventh minute of extra time set off the chaos.

Halil Umut Meler was in charge of the game. He was standing with his helpers when the game was over and Ankaragucu president Faruk Koca attacked him.

Koca ran up to Meler and hit him with a right hook. While Meler was still down, someone else kicked the judge in the face.

A queue of players and staff from both teams formed around Meler as Koca was led away. The person in charge was then helped to his feet.

Reports say that Koca was then attacked and taken to the hospital while being watched by cops. He started the fight.

The bad behaviour has caused chaos in the Turkish football league, and the Turkish Football Federation later said that there will be no more league games in the country for an indefinite amount of time.

A goal by Olimpiu Morutan gave Ankaragucu a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute. However, Ali Sowe was sent off five minutes into the second half, making the team down to ten players. In the fifth minute of extra time, Rizespor’s Emirhan Topcu was sent off.

It looked like the home team would keep the lead until Adolfo Gaich tied the game in the last few seconds for Rizespor, which had Jonjo Shelvey, a defender who used to play for England, Liverpool, and Newcastle.
